Fishmarket Cafe Rebrand
Established in 1989, Fish Market Café is a family-run seafood restaurant at Sydney’s iconic Fish Markets in Pyrmont. A family business run over multiple generations, the café approached Pictura Digital to help them refresh their brand identity in alignment with the stunning redevelopment of the Sydney Fish Markets. The ambitious new architectural vision on Sydney Harbour called for a modern, vibrant brand identity that respects tradition yet confidently embraces the future.
Challenges
The primary challenge was to create a contemporary visual identity that resonated with the bold new vision of the redeveloped Fish Markets while honouring the café’s rich heritage and reputation built over decades. Key elements from the original branding needed to be thoughtfully preserved.
Strategy
Our strategy began with a collaborative exploration, blending insights from the family’s history, customer preferences, and thorough market research. We combined modern design principles with subtle nods to their roots and maritime heritage, ensuring the new brand felt both fresh and authentic.
The rollout plan strategically phased implementation, first introducing key elements within the existing space, with a full-scale deployment aligned to coincide with the launch of the redeveloped Sydney Fish Markets.
Results
The rebrand has been warmly received by both customers and the Fish Market Café team. Early feedback has praised the modernised yet familiar feel, which customers describe as fresh, inviting, and representative of the café’s welcoming atmosphere. The new branding has positioned Fish Market Café effectively to attract both existing patrons and a new generation of diners.
